My Top Five Moisturisers

Drugstores seem to be completely flooded with body lotions and moisturisers all claiming to have different advantages to skin and being for different skin types. I, like a lot of other people, sometimes feel overwhelmed at the amount of choice there is on offer to me when I am out shopping. In this blog post I have compiled a number of my personal favourite body moisturisers just to try and make it that little bit easier when you're looking for something similar to buy.

1) Soap & Glory: The Righteous Butter.

Soap & Glory are renowned for making some fantastic products and this body butter is no exception. In my opinion, this product is very good at looking after dry skin which explains why I use it the most during the winter months. It contains extracts of shea butter and aloe vera which are perfect at smoothing and softening dry skin. This body butter comes in quite a large tub and the consistency of the product is very thick and creamy which feels lovely to rub into the skin. Despite the thick texture of the product it sinks into the skin very easily after rubbing in, so it doesn't leave you feeling greasy. I find that the best time to put this product on is just before bed at night, as you will wake up feeling so soft and smooth as it sinks into your skin overnight. This product, as expected from Soap & Glory, isn't the cheapest out there. Usually a 300ml tub retails at £10.00 in Boots. However, to save some money I make use of the 3 for 2 offers that are often on Soap & Glory products, as they are well worth the price.

2) The Body Shop: Body Butter, Passionfruit.

Another favourite product of mine is the Body Shop Body Butter. The first thing to note about this product is the amazing smell, my current one is passionfruit scented however you can buy these in a vast variety of beautiful scents. I really like that about the Body Shop, they have scents for many of their products to suit all different tastes. This body butter has a much firmer texture compared to the Soap & Glory Righteous Butter but feels silky and velvety when you rub it into the skin. I think that this body butter is perfect for any skin type, it's not too creamy and it's not too lightweight, it's just in the middle and it's very easy to blend a lot into the skin without it going greasy. Once again, this can be quite a pricey product. However, The Body Shop often have promotional offers to look out for and I managed to pick this up for just £5.

3) Vaseline: Spray & Go Body Moisturiser, Cocoa Radiant.

The Vaseline Spray & Go body moisturiser is perfect for anyone who wants a quick fix to daily moisturising. I use this product the most often compared to any of my other moisturisers as it is so easy any quick. I apply this daily after a shower and it soaks in to the skin in seconds. The spray-on aspect is perfect for anyone in a rush or anyone who hasn't got the time to sit and rub moisturiser in. It is so light on the skin which makes it perfect for everyday use as it is not too heavy. It is also perfect to apply in the morning as it soaks in to the skin so effortlessly, you're not going to have to worry about it leaving marks on your clothes. Vaseline make this product in a few different scents and also have an unscented version too. My personal favourite is the cocoa butter scent. This product is also very budget friendly, costing just £4.99 in Boots. You can also find this product in other stores you probably wouldn't expect, such as B&M where I picked this up for just £1.99.

4) Garnier: Summer Body Moisturising Lotion.

Something a bit different now, a product perfect for the summer months. Garnier Summer Body is a moisturiser with a hint of very light but buildable tan. I don't like to wear fake tan, but find that this product is perfect as it gives me just the right amount of colour without looking overpowering. I apply this moisturiser in the summer when I'm feeling a bit too pale. If applied daily this moisturiser will build a lovely subtle, streak-free tan and leave your skin feeling super soft. It also has a really lovely fresh scent of apricot. This really suits my skin in the summer as it is not too heavy and sticky when rubbing it in. The only thing to be cautious of is to remember to wash your hands thoroughly after use, otherwise you will end up with tanned palms! Once again this is another very reasonably priced product considering it contains tan. This usually retails at about £5.50 in Boots and can be picked up for cheaper during certain promotional offers.

5) Nivea: In-Shower Body Moisturiser, Indulging Cocoa.

Another personal favourite of mine is the Nivea In-Shower Moisturiser. This is very similar to the Vaseline product in the sense of how easy and quick it is to use. This product is designed to be rubbed on to the skin while in the shower and then washed off before you get out. Unlike many body moisturisers there is no waiting around and letting things soak in to the skin, this does its job so effectively and quickly that you simply wash it off once you've finished. I usually use this moisturiser on a daily basis in the shower if i'm not planning on using my Vaseline Spray & Go. This leaves my skin subtle and soft and has a very delicate cocoa scent that lasts all day. I definitely recommend this product, much like the Vaseline Spray & Go for anyone who wants a quick fix to daily skin care. This is yet another brilliant yet affordable product, usually retailing at about £3.00.
